Methodology & data integrity

How we know what we show.

Verification labels

Six classes of information, never mixed

Verified

Checked by a Fact Checker against the official primary record (e.g. COMELEC certificate, Senate roster, court decision).

Officially reported

Taken directly from an official publication: GAA, Republic Act text, ICC case page.

Secondary source

Reported by reputable news or reference sources. Shown with the source and queued for official verification.

Allegation

A claim by a party. Never presented as fact, and never used to score anyone.

Historical record

Past officeholders and events, kept for context such as family graphs and succession.

Data rules

What we never do

  • ✕ Fabricate politicians, election results, public funds, legal cases, family relationships, project completion or achievements.
  • ✕ Infer corruption from family ties, party, rumors or social media.
  • ✕ Treat missing information as proof of wrongdoing, or as a clean record.
  • ✕ Attribute every project in an area to its elected officials.
  • ✕ Claim an official personally controls an institution's entire budget.
  • ✕ Count a filed bill as a law, or mark a promise complete based on campaign statements.
  • ✕ Assume someone is a 2028 candidate without a public declaration or COMELEC filing.
  • ✕ Publish anonymous accusations from citizen reports.
Data sources & ingestion

Where the data comes from, and how it gets in

We prefer official APIs and downloadable datasets. We never scrape against a site's terms or bypass access controls. Sources without a feed use the manual import workflow, which includes validation, duplicate detection, preview and review.

Coverage and known gaps. National officials are curated from Senate, House and Official Gazette records. Governors, vice governors, provincial board members, district representatives, mayors, vice mayors and councilors are the winners of the 12 May 2025 elections, with each person's race history since 2001, taken from COMELEC results compiled by Open Halalan and redistributed by BetterGov (Open Database License 1.0 — derived data is shared under the same license). They reflect the election result, not later successions, suspensions or dismissals, which are corrected as they are documented. Not yet covered: punong barangay, kagawad and SK officials (no machine-readable list has been published for the 2 Nov 2026 BSKE), party-list representatives, ex officio council members and Cabinet secretaries. These gaps are shown as gaps — never filled with placeholders.
